So I just saw the X-Files, I Want to Believe, movie and I have to say I was a little disappointed. Don't get me wrong, it was a good movie, but not as good as it could have been.
After waiting all these years for the hope of another movie, and then to finally hear that there would be another movie, I think that maybe my expectations were a little too high.
The story line was okay, just not what the X-Files is really about. I missed the aliens, government conspiracy theories, and freaky villains that the TV show brought us each week. The Mulder & Scully relationship aspect of the movie was good, and pretty much where I would have expected them to be at this point in time. To me, that was the best part of the movie.
There wasn't a whole lot of action, compared to the first movie, and the whole part about the bad guys getting body parts for this "Frankenstein" guy was a bit too much, even for the X-Files. I think I was expecting a little more from Chris Carter & co. They brought us so many good episodes, and 1 good movie, in the past, that I just thought this movie would be Great. That it would be the result of 6 long years of great movie writing and re-writing, until they created the best possible movie they could create. Sadly, I was mistaken.
As a true X-Files fan, I will see the movie again, but not in the theaters. I will purchase the DVD, to go along with my other X-Files DVD's, but I won't expect them to make another movie, based on the performance of this one. If they do make another movie, I will be happy, and I will go see it, but I hope that I, along with all the other fans, will not be disappointed again.

I didn't miss the aliens. They've beaten the whole alien conspiracy thing to death. Yes, it was a cooler storyline during the glory days, but I felt that this was appropriate for a revival. Not a great film, but not as terrible as people are saying.
That's true. It wasn't great, but it wasn't terrible either. Thanks for the comment.
